Terms of Use
Last updated: June 2026
Acceptance
By using Auroracast (auroracast.co.uk) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Not for safety-critical use
Auroracast provides aurora forecasts and space weather data for recreational and educational purposes only. All data is sourced from public third-party services (primarily NOAA SWPC) and may be delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable. Do not rely on this site to make decisions where personal safety is at risk. We accept no liability for any loss, injury, or damage arising from use of the data provided.
Data accuracy
Space weather is inherently unpredictable. Kp index values, solar wind readings, and aurora forecasts are best estimates and can change rapidly. Viewing condition ratings are based on automated weather data and are not guaranteed to be accurate for your specific location. Aurora alerts may arrive late, not arrive, or trigger at times when no aurora is visible to the naked eye.
Community sightings
When you submit a sighting report you confirm that:
- The sighting is genuine and occurred at the time and location specified
- Any photo submitted is your own work and you hold the rights to it
- The content does not contain offensive, misleading, or illegal material
- You grant Auroracast a non-exclusive licence to display the report and photo on the site
We reserve the right to remove any sighting report at our discretion without notice.
Push notifications
Aurora alert notifications are provided on a best-effort basis. We cannot guarantee delivery, timing, or accuracy of alerts. You are responsible for managing your notification preferences in your browser. Enabling alerts constitutes consent to receive push messages from this site.
Intellectual property
The Auroracast name, logo, and site design are our property. Space weather data originates from NOAA SWPC and is in the public domain. Satellite map tiles are provided by Esri under their terms of service. Community sighting content remains the property of the original submitter.
Limitation of liability
Auroracast is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the site or reliance on its data.
Changes
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the site following any change constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
